Dexter exploring the back yard
It was a pretty lazy Sunday. The best kind of Sunday if you ask me.
Woke up around 7:30, tried to watch some of the Hallmark Christmas shows that I had recorded but they just are not the same after Christmas so I deleted them.
I was a little antsy to get out of the house and do something, Vic wasn't. I went to the dreaded Walmart and picked up a few things. Vic mentioned getting retractable leashes for the littles so we could start walking them. I found a few other things and before I knew it the bill was over $200 ..yikes! I did score with the last GoPro remote. I put back the socks I was going to buy..and did not get a calendar so there is that. My impulse buy was a pillow for Vic's new recliner that should be here in a few more weeks.

Vic still wasn't in the mood to go do anything so I took the littles on a walk around the block by myself, with the new leashes. They loved them. It was tricky because Dexter wanted to wrap himself around every mailbox and tree. It was nice to get them out and get us all some exercise. I picked up a frisbee for Dakota (her favorite toy). We played for a bit  in the back yard but it was too hot.

I started reading the GoPro for dummies book but quickly fell into nap mode. I guess Vic was trying to watch a movie and did the same thing. We did start the first season of Downton Abbey , we watched one episode and decided we'd try it another time. I think it will be good but my brain wasn't in the right place to try and keep up.

Tonight we had left over spaghetti from last night...didn't work as well for me this time. I kind of miss the joy of food but I guess that was/is part of my problem.

The Cowboys won today. That's always a good thing :)

Until tomorrow....

Just another day...

I keep meaning to get on here and do a little update but google has made it so darn difficult! I changed my email address and it seems everything is attached via the other gmail account. Youtube, Blogger, etc. etc.
But anyway...
I've been trying to get myself more organized. I  bought a great at-a-glance day planner ! (yes another calendar to add to my already over loaded calendar collection/obsession)
I've been setting goals and so far meeting them! (most of them anyway) I'm selling more on ebay and amazon each month. Still not mind blowing figures but enough that keeps me excited. Today I sold a figurine for a few hundred dollars.
Ebay and Amazon had been quiet for a few weeks but it's like someone turned the light on again this past week. I tend to go sourcing and post more after a day of cha-chings on my phone (It's a sound my phone makes when I make a sale on either Ebay or Amazon).

We got our fence installed a week or so ago..it's AWESOME! It has made all the difference in the world with the dogs barking. They are much quieter and happier now that they can spend more time running around the yard. Before we'd make them come in as soon as the barking started. I'm sure the neighbors are happier too. :)

A group of my friends have started a walking group (starting Tuesday) I'm pretty excited about it. I've been wanting to ask around to see if anyone wanted to walk or ride bikes with me but I didn't want to really have the commitment incase I didn't feel like it  once the time came. It's so much less stressful when someone else sets it up lol. I hope that I actually show up and do this next week! I need some exercise in the worst way.

Since my last post I became a great aunt. My sisters son and his girl friend welcomed a little boy Aug. 8. Unfortunately I have not seen the baby and don't know if I will anytime soon. Family drama...I wish you could make young kids understand what is really important in life BEFORE it's too late.
My other sister has a daughter that is due next month..it will be a totally different story with that little baby...I can't wait to see her!
Here are some pictures from this month :) A bit of "What Holly Has Seen"...

Dog Days Of Summer

Each of our four dogs have very different personalities. We are just seeing DJ develop into his and not so sure it is the sweet boy I remember from his puppy days. DJ is a miniature dachshund, he is our other dachshunds (dexter) son. We brought him home at 8 weeks old and he has been the sweetest little thing. He cuddles with us, runs to Vic when he's hurt or scared and runs to me when he's getting in trouble or needs to be picked up. I've posted videos of him loving up on the bigs, he does all of their dental cleanings and makes sure they get their faces washed up all good.

There is Dakota, our only female dog, that gets her feelings hurt. She totally pouts as shown here.

Dexter is our toy hoarder. This video was made before we got DJ. Dexter feels it is his job to gather all the toys up and keep an eye on them. Unfortunately  he has passed this on to DJ, but DJ takes the job to a different level and gets "ugly" if dexter comes near the toy DJ is protecting at the time.

Thank goodness for the most part they all get along great and love each other!

What Did You Do This Week?

I made it thru another week of 2011! Can you believe it's the middle of February already?!
I was going to try and keep up a blog of what was going on in my life at least once a week but that just has not happened as of this time.

How about this week...I have
  • Taken the dogs (the bigs) to the vet.
  • Gone to Reb Lobster twice
  • Called Comcast yet again for crappy reception
  • Talked to every family member on the phone at least once
  • Gave both labs a bath (actually a shower outside with the hose)
  • Missed All My Children twice because my DVR is being a bitch
  • Celebrated a friends birthday with her (hence the second visit to Red Lobster)
  • Started following Rosie O'Donnel on twitter
Exciting eh? Yeah I know....

Second Visit Hope for the Holidays

Yesterday we made our second visit to the homeless camp. My mom had given us some money to buy a few more things and we wanted to get the propane tanks over to Pops so he would stay warm in this little cold snap we were having. We were almost there when we saw the flashing lights of the emergency vehicles.
When we saw that it was a man down on his bike we pulled over and Vic walked over to see if it was one of our homeless people. The man was okay, and not one that we recognized from the camp. They took him by ambulance to have his leg checked out. Vic said the police man was lecturing the biker on how dangerous it is to ride his bike by such a busy road. I think sometimes they forget that if the man had his choice he would most likely choose to be in a car and not on a bike on such a cold day.

As we walked through the woods to the camp we noticed more tents than were there last week. We didn't see people but saw the tents scattered along the path back to "Pirates Cove". As we got closer we noticed a large American Flag flying in the breeze that was flying proudly in the camp. As we walked in , three voices from one of the new tents called out to us. Pops, Tony and a new man named Leathered invited us over to the new tent. Pops seemed very happy to see us and even happier when he realized we brought the propane tanks he needs to keep warm.
Leathered introduced himself. He is a Vet and is the newest member of Pirates Cove and as Tony explained , one of his oldest and dearest friends. The flag was a gift from him to Tony with a much deeper story behind it. As tears streamed down their faces we knew it was a heartfelt story that we'd have to hear on another day because they were not talking.

Pops said that they had many people come out and bring food for Christmas and it was the best Christmas he had seen out there. I'm sure the newspaper article has touched other people the way it touched Vic and I. It is comforting knowing there are other people reaching out and helping too.

There are two dogs that stay at Pirates Cove. Mask and Stripes. One is 7 months old and all puppy, and the other one is 6 years old. There are toys strewn all over the place. I played with the puppy for a bit , throwing sticks for him to bring back. One of them peed on my leg before we left. My dogs did not much like that when I got home..but I guess I belong to all of them now. :)

We left with more requests for radios, lanterns and batteries on our next visit. And of course big hugs again from all of them. Pops even called me Holly Baby and kissed me on the cheek!

I didn't get pictures again because I felt strange asking if it was ok. Our dear friends in Sacramento did make it out over Christmas, passing out the sleeping bags and supplies they had gathered for "hope for the holidays" and got some great pictures that I will share. We love you Sue (and family) and are so happy that you inspired us to do this!

December 11-18

This week was a  pretty full week for me. Since it is the week before Christmas it is surprising how little holiday activities played a role in my time.

This week I ...
  • Went to the doctor and got back on my meds for my asthma.
  • Had my hair done..love it! Thanks Heidi..Venice Day Spa is the BEST!
  • Ate at Peach's and had the yummiest four cheese quiche..twice!
  • Had Friday Night Date night with Vic and went to Ivy's Steakhouse and then out looking at Christmas lights around town.
  • Got my first order for my new business venture..www.suncoastgrocerygirls.webs.com!
  • Talked to my BFF Steph and realized how much I miss her!
  • Felt like I lost my bubbawoo.
  • Filled up my jeep, gas is now $2.94 a gallon...yikes!
  • Celebrated as DADT (Don't Ask Don't Tell) was repealed today.
  • Caught up on All My Children from last week and this week.
  • Found some new great blogs to follow after this weekends Lady Blogger Society Tea Party.
  • Actually made a youtube video after slacking for so many months.

Day 15 of the 30 Day Blog Journal

Woohoo Half Way Done!

My dream house will have wrap around porches, lots of windows, double sinks in the master bathroom, a big spa tub, fenced yard for the fur children, and big massive closets!

I could happily live in the city or country, On a mountain or near the beach. What is most important is that my family of fur creatures are comfortable and that Vic is by my side :)

Happy Sunday!

On a side note my friend Serena posted this link on facebook about a guy that built a 89 sq ft house and I thought it was so cool I had to share! His name is Jay Shafer.

The Littles and the Bigs

We have four dogs. Two yellow labs that we call the "Bigs" and two miniature long haired dachshunds that we call the "littles". Real names are Scout, Dakota, DJ, and Dexter. They all get along very well and LOVE to have me follow them around with the camera...they do. No really..they DO! I asked them. Ok, well Scout actually said he didn't care one way or another. Dakota said she liked it when she was in every shot, DJ didn't stop running around long enough to answer my question and Dexter said it was fine as long as I didn't take his toys away...seeeeeee They love it!

A blog about blogging

As I was working on my blogs and trying to find a place to put them, I read a lot of other peoples blogs. The style that people write in really stood out to me. Some are always funny or always serious, some stay true to writing about one subject. Some write from their dogs point of view. I find those really cute but honestly my dogs are not the best at channeling thru me to write a blog. They are like the dog in the movie "UP" and will start telling me what to write and then...SQUIRREL!~

I really like my friend Serena's blog. OK technically she is Vic's friend but I think I can call her friend too, is that OK Serena? So anyway..I like her muted colors, I love the pictures she puts with her blogs, I like the overall appearance  and her style of writing. Vic tells me that she has always been that way and that is one of the things that has always stood out about her writing. It's small, not a lot of words but the words that are there are deep. Blogs that make you think.
Consistent. In comparison, my blogs are all over the chart. My blogs are much like my thinking, when I'm in a dark place I write poetry, when I'm angry I write about situations, when I'm bored and want to just write I write about my life/pets/events around me. Sometimes they are colorful blogs with pretty pictures about what I am writing about and other times I just stick a picture of Scout up in the corner because I think he's so darn cute. I guess that is what makes blogging so interesting to me, all of the different styles of blogging.

I get lots of ideas about things I'd like to blog about. During the day I will be doing something and catch myself thinking "oh i need to blog about that!". I love watching the video blogs on youtube. I've tried doing a few of those but I really hate being in front of the camera. Here is an attempt :

I'm much  more comfortable behind the camera taking the videos and on the computer writing the blogs, vs face to face...Anyway........... Back to Blogging...
